Simon Torode

Simon is the founding partner of Livingroom Estate Agents, Livinglife and the Guernsey Property Guide publications. A Guernsey boy through and through Simon returned to the island following a successful career in London as an advertising creative and time spent travelling the world. While working for a local estate agency Simon realised there was a way to integrate his creative skills with his passion for property. He knew that people buying and selling their homes wanted more from their estate agent. With an extensive knowledge of property, photography and creative brand design, Simon has always been the driving force in Livingroom's unique and cutting edge brand positioning and development.

Livingroom has taken another leap forward - taking client service to a whole new level and once more reinventing how estate agents work. Embracing new technology and always focussing on each client's specific needs, Livingroom offers vendors and purchasers a unique experience. The ever-evolving approach positions Livingroom at the forefront of the industry.

"Our principles at Livingroom apply to all. Whether selling or buying a £150k studio or a £25m mansion - everyone should feel they are the focus of our work and we are determined to make sure our clients stay with Livingroom because of the innovative quality of service they receive."

Livingroom is passionate about giving back to the local community and has made this a pillar of its business.

Simon is also a founding member of the Guernsey charity YPG (Young People Guernsey). Young People Guernsey (YPG) is a Guernsey charity that identifies and responds to the needs of young people in the Bailiwick. YPG's first project was a partnership with Barnardo's, the UK's largest children's charity, commissioning them to provide an information, advice and guidance centre in St. Peter Port for young people aged 11-16 years called 'The Hub'. YPG's objective is that all young people should be able to find confidential support and advice from the very best professionals . The partnership with Barnardo's and the creation of this centre has been an important and significant development for young people in Guernsey.

When not working, Simon enjoys singing, playing the piano, exercise, photography, gardening and travelling.

Richard Hardie

Richard Hardie is co-director of Livingroom Estate Agents having joined in 2008 from London with an extensive background in high net worth property dealings. Previously a manager of Harrods Estates on Park Lane and Garrington Home Finders (Phil Spencer's company of Location Location Location fame), Richard is focused on bringing an experienced and balanced perspective to the island's Open Market.

Richard has been an enthusiastic driver of the new phase for Livingroom with a deep understanding of what clients need whether they live in Guernsey or further afield. The son of a late diplomat, Richard brings a truly international outlook to property deals and recognises the emotions and desires of these clients to ensure all elements are taken into consideration and the negotiations run as smoothly as possible.

"The key here is communication. We are here to buy and sell houses for our clients and, not only do you have to understand what drives each person, you have to ensure the lines of communication are always open no matter what time of the day or night."

Richard is also a council member of The National Trust of Guernsey.

Richard likes reading, exercise and travel and spends time at home cooking and gardening.

Jodie Webber

Born and educated in Guernsey, Jodie undertook a career in HR before finding her niche at Livingroom in residential sales, joining the team in 2010.

Jodie is an accomplished singer and used this talent to study music in the UK and work while travelling the world. It is her love of people and the personal connection she makes selling property that makes her certain of her career choice.

"There is a lot to compare singing to being an excellent estate agent. You have to make a connection with individuals, excel at what you do whilst remaining calm, approachable, professional and disciplined."

Having recently bought a home Jodie can reflect on the process with first-hand experience.

"I am keen to ensure that all applicants, whether they are first time buyers or experienced on the property ladder, are given all the facts needed to not fear the process. It is my job to guide them through the system in Guernsey and to be on hand to answer any questions."

Jodie also sings in a local band and loves nothing more than spending time with family and friends.

Nick Paluch

Nick is a bright, enthusiastic member of the Livingroom team. Having been born in Guernsey and educated at Elizabeth College, Nick worked in accountancy until he was bitten by the travel bug and spent six months travelling the globe before returning to Guernsey to take up a position in customer services with a local airline.

Nick was off once again, this time on a motorbike tour of most of Europe with his girlfriend, Sam and then returned to Guernsey where he was the manager of a well-regarded and innovative retail store.

Nick has built a strong foundation in dealing with a range of customers and brings dynamism to his role in residential sales with Livingroom.

"I've always had a passion for property and I am delighted to be able to marry this with my customer service experience for Livingroom. Livingroom is the "Apple" of estate agents in Guernsey: doing things differently with the customer at the heart of everything. I admire this ethos."

Nick has experienced first-hand the work involved in property sales, having bought his first house in 2010.

Jason Hyland

Jason joined Livingroom Estate Agents from a career in structural design of locally-based redevelopments and new builds.

His keen interest in property is also enhanced from his own passion for renovating his own homes over the years. Jason brings a wealth of experience of the island he has called home for more than 20 years.

"There is a real need to be pragmatic and patient in property sales and my clients seem to appreciate my experience and knowledge of how it is done here in Guernsey. To be honest, I get as much from my clients as they get from me."

Jason is another member of the team that likes exercise and has a passion for skiing.

Karina de Carteret

Karina is Livingroom's office manager and keeps the team motivated and on track. Married to a Guernseyman, Karina fell in love with the island when she moved to Guernsey in the late eighties.

The Livingroom team saw Karina's abilities which she developed in her successful career managing several senior members of the banking industry.

Karina is often the first point of contact offering clients a warm smile, keen organisational skills and a thorough knowledge of what our clients want and need.

"Livingroom's professional yet relaxed approach to client service is a breath of fresh air and the team make coming to work a real pleasure. It is really rewarding working with such a great bunch and being able to help our clients with all there is in buying and selling property."

Sophie Turian

Sophie joins Livingroom in residential sales having been in the Guernsey property industry for 12 years. Not only does Sophie bring a wealth of experience to Livingroom in property sales but also holds a diploma in surveying practise. Sophie offers a range of skills to the team having previously worked in the local finance industry as well as working with horses in the UK and Australia before returning to her home island.

Her previous life experiences make her a perfect fit for Livingroom where the team approach and attention to detail mirror her own. Like the rest of the team, Sophie has a keen interest in local property and a drive to excel.

"Livingroom's approach to selling property in Guernsey is rare and modern. They are innovative and always trying new ideas and I find this really refreshing."

Outside of work Sophie enjoys travelling with her partner, keeping fit and walking her dogs!

Vikki Bennett

Vikki has joined Livingroom to coordinate all aspects of property rentals. A true Guernsey woman, Vikki is married and has a young daughter. After working in the finance industry for 15 years she was bitten by the property bug and leapt at the chance to join the Livingroom team.

Livingroom saw the enthusiasm Vikki has for property; she has spent the last 17 years renovating the family home.

Vikki's appointment couldn't come too soon as the team manages a significant surge in enquiries.

"I have always been impressed with Livingroom's client service ethos and the way the team present property to the market and now, to be on the inside, I am even more impressed.

Vikki is a keen traveller and loves skiing as well as all forms of gym exercise being a loyal boot camper.

Hannah Martel

Hannah Martel has joined the Livingroom team in an Operations capacity to help Karina keep the office running smoothly. The business has never been busier. Born and educated in Guernsey, Hannah is the youngest member of the team.

Like many in the Livingroom clan Hannah is a keen traveller having travelled the Far East, Australia, New Zealand and spent six months ski-ing in Canada. Hannah has broad work experience having worked in offices and even turned her hand to creative floristry.

As her family have been involved with estate agency and development, the love of property is clearly in Hannah's genes and she looks forward to a long career within the industry.

In her spare time Hannah is an avid photographer, loves drawing and plays softball.

Rob Wilson

Born in Guernsey Rob has joined the design team at Livingroom.  After a varied career which started in finance he decided to follow his love for design and left the island to study at the prestigious Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan.

Rob has a keen interest in all things creative and brings with him a wealth of design and photographic experience. With a passion for property, Rob is the perfect addition to the team at Livingroom. 

Rob looks after the in-house design department through photography, post production, advertising design and social media.

"I have always had a passion for Guernsey and consider Livingroom to be an innovative company with real ambition. Livingroom's willingness to look beyond the horizon shows great potential for the future."

Rob is also a keen foodie. He loves running, climbing and playing tennis and enjoys weekends away.
