The Living
Art 2012 competition, launched the raise funds for Young People
Guernsey has certainly captured the imagination of many of
Guernsey's established, amateur and budding artists and we have
been made aware of quite a few different people all working hard on
their submissions for this fantastic competition.
When we put the idea together we wanted it to be a fun way for
individuals to show what Guernsey means to them through artistic
mediums while, at the same time, raising money for this wonderful
cause. Now while we completely get the idea that artists are
perfectionists in lots of ways, we want to stress that another of
our aims was that people could enter without having to spend vast
quantities of money to do so.
For all those thinking of entering please know that your work
does not need to be framed or mounted, we are happy to accept
prints or artwork that is not "dressed up" in any way. After all,
it is all about raising as much money as we can for the charity and
we don't need you to spend money to make money… that's for the
bidders to do! Many bidders will be looking for something special
and part of the experience of owning art work is putting your own
stamp on the way you want to display the art and that includes the
framing or mounting. You are absolutely welcome to submit your work
framed if you wish but it is by no means a requirement.
Please take note of the size limit of the submissions -
no greater measurement than 1 metre in any direction. It doesn't
mean you have to submit something of this size but it is the
biggest we can accept. I hope that's cleared up any confusion as we
have received some enquiries.
Don't forget submissions must be in by 31 July. We will post all
the entries on the
site as soon as possible after that date and then please
encourage your friends, family, work colleagues, bosses and
businesses to bid on your work. After all, the more bidding we
have, the more money Young People
Guernsey (YPG) will make.
